Prestigious Scholarship Awarded to Jamaican Banker for Top MBA Programme through Global Partnership with Leading University

 

The Jamaica Institute of Financial Services’ (JIFS)  - the training arm of The  Jamaica Bankers Association (JBA) -  mandate is to create opportunities and offer training programmes for financial services professionals and promote the continued growth of the financial services sector through training, social exchange and research.

 

JIFS takes great pleasure in announcing that, for the first time ever, a 50% scholarship has been offered to eligible   candidates in Jamaica applying to study the programme.

 

Through our strategic partnership with globally recognized institutions, Bangor University Business School and the Chartered Banker Institute, JIFS is pleased to offer the Chartered Banker MBA in Jamaica.

 

This unique MBA experience brings together high level skills and knowledge from an internationally recognized University and the world’s oldest banking institute.  The outcome for students is a dual award of a top MBA in Banking and finance and Chartered Banker status.

 

Local Banker, Horace Watson, Branch Manager for CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank (Jamaica) Limited, Portmore, has been selected from 6 eligible candidates and been awarded the scholarship to support his studies which will commence in the upcoming October Semester. He has 22 years of financial services sector experience with almost 20 of those at the CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank (Jamaica) Limited. 

 

The programme is a combination of online and face to face learning, minimising time away from the office.  It delivers practical, cutting edge and contemporary content to aid executives and managers to make sense of the holistic nature of bank management.

 

Fast track routes are available for holders of professional Banking and Accounting or other recognised postgraduate qualifications.

The Jamaica Institute of Financial Services (JIFS)   was established as The Jamaica Institute of Bankers (JIOB) in 1977 by the Bank of Jamaica and the then Commercial Banks.  In 1999 the Jamaica Bankers Association (JBA) assumed full responsibility for its operations.    JIFS mandate is to support the financial services industry through training (Financial Services Training Institute), research (Research Club) and social exchange (Finance Club).
